I recently had the opportunity to create two very different custom pieces for a long-time collector. He came to me to help with a couple very special Christmas gifts for his sons. This was quite an honor since it highlights his understanding and appreciation for my process and the possibilities.
The client provided most of the photos in as stealthy a manner as possible to not ruin the surprise. I developed design options, he chose direction and off we went…
The first commission was for his son and daughter in-law who own and operation The Young Chef’s Academy in the Houston area. I have to say… this project tickled my sweet tooth. Working with the photos of the young chefs was magical.
We printed the piece as a 18 x 36 on aluminum. I also shared a low res image for their own promotion and online use.
The second request was a bit less appetizing at first … yes Ball Pythons. This piece was all about Evolution Revolution (also in the Houston area) and gifted to another son and small business owner.
I’m proud to say that I was able to set aside my snake phobia. I was able to look beyond the subject matter and began to appreciate the patterns and colors and see the beauty of these exotic creatures.
And, I really like the way the artwork came out. We printed a 36 x 18 aluminum piece. I also shared a low res image for their own promotion and online use.
As you can see the possibilities are endless here. Imagine transforming your photos into a special piece of art that will speak to you on a personal level every time you look at it.
Because each piece may use a dozen or more photographs, there will always be something to discover in the layers and layers of images within the composition, making your piece an heirloom that will be enjoyed for generations.
