The Becoming of Knowing

There is a place

When then is here
And now is there

Where the near and far
approach the tipping

Illusion and reality
mingle and blur

The tumblers fall
Otherness collides

The glinting edges
Reveal the sublime

Close your eyes
See what you knew all along

The liminal space between reality and illusion is where the magic happens. It’s in that moment when they slide into each other and produce an otherness, a sublime encounter. It can transport us to a threshold where we can transcend our own awareness.

I began this series during the Lions Gate Portal which peaks every year on August 8th when Sirius, Earth, and the Orion constellation are all in alignment with each other. It is believed that the eighth of the eighth is a fundamental spiritual date, as it’s when the veil between our world and the spiritual world is incredibly thin.

In this collection, I’ve paired sacred geometry as it manifests in the natural world with the symbols that represent the energy patterns that create and unify all things.

Illusion And Reality

I’ve created the image using photos of palms, prisms, and a Giant Owl butterfly in the patterns of the design. This piece represents the golden ratio (fibonacci) which all shapes come back to this mathematical formula. ‘As above, so below’, connects heaven and earth. The spiral ‘spirals’ up to connect the physical self to the Higher Self.

The Glinting Edges

This design represents a rose and the spiral pattern of the bloom. I’ve used photos of a red leafy plant, dew drops on grasses, and a Fritillary butterfly to create the composition. The Fibonacci spiral represents the expansion of nature and the universe, reflecting the magical inter-connectedness of our micro- and macro- cosmos. For centuries, this knowledge was considered sacred, a way of understanding the deeper beauty and spirituality in life.

Now Is There

The base drawing is of a radial succulent plant. This piece uses photos of an agave, swallowtail butterfly, colored glass. I’ve overlaid the Seed of Life symbol, with its seven interconnected circles, symbolizing the interconnection of life on Earth and universal existence.

When Then Is Here

equilibrium which balances chaotic energy and brings it to an equilibrium It represents the ultimate and perfect condition wherein the movement of energy comes to a state of absolute equilibrium, and therefore absolute stillness and nothingness. Photos are of dewy bamboo in Wimberley and a Paper Kite butterfly.

Mingle And Blur

The pattern in this design is based on the star tetrahedron also known as the Grid of Life. Stated most basically, the tetrahedron facilitates balance and stability when we embark on spiritual exploration. I’ve used photos of a house of mirrors and cypress branches with an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail perched in the upper right.

The Near And Far

I love the intimate look at the radiating stems and patterns they create. The seeds evoke a sense of anticipation of their imminent flight on the next breeze to spread new life near and far. I’ve integrated the Fruit of Life symbol which is comprised of thirteen equal-sized circles. It represents the sacred pattern of the universe and the origin of all creation.

Reveal The Sublime

This design uses photos of a white hydrangea bloom, yellow mum, and a southern dogface butterfly. The overlay is a hexagram, or a 6-pointed star. It is made from two opposite triangles which represent the masculine and feminine, earth and sky, interlocking in perfect harmony. The hex-agram reminds us of our place in the world, halfway between earth and sky, and at the epicen-ter of our own personal power.

Approach The Tipping

The Torus Yantra (Hypnotic eye) is a core level sacred geometry form. This image graphs the process by which all energy, when it is correctly aligned, continually is cycling, up and down and around, between spirit and matter. This is a process that occurs in all objects in existence, eventually. An object can go only so far in its ascent/descent before the opposite polarity pulls it back to itself.
