The shapes and forms of flowing landscape have always intrigued me.

Not only do I love the compositional opportunities, but the rhythm of the textures and shapes offer such storytelling riches.

Vistas provide a vantage point that highlights the relationship of our own presence in space with the mysteries of a far off horizon. The sensation of our unique memories and experiences layered with possibilities of the unseen is dizzying.

These images seek the shadowed realities that can not be seen until we reach the apex and look back, revealing the echoes of lifetimes playing across the topography. It’s in the space that lies in-between that we find where we belong.

Titles are inspired by the lyrics “Road to Nowhere” by the Talking Heads.

Where Were Going

Growing Day By Day

This one seemed like a mystery to be uncovered from the beginning. The botanical landscape featuring a single water lilly bloom evokes a sense of the unreal as the sky indicates twilight and dawn at the same time. I’ve used photos of palms and cacti to create the forms of the flowing hills. I can feel the tension in this piece between the light and the dark, the rain and the sun, and the start and stop.

Imagery in this piece represents the Central Texas waterscapes of McKinney Falls State Park and Hamilton Pool.

The Future Is Certain

This piece uses photos captured at Pedernales Falls State Park and and the Texas Coast near Rockport.

Here We Go

The photography is a melding of a carnival fun house and forested creekside in Wimberley. The watery pathway leads to an open door (photo taken at the San Jose Mission in San Antonio). Don’t miss the silent observer in the lower right corner.
