Opening Reception – People’s Gallery Season 2026-2028

Join Austin’s creative community for the 19th People’s Gallery Opening Reception at Austin City Hall on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6–9 p.m.

Presented by Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment (ACME) Art in Public Places, the People’s Gallery 2026 exhibition showcases the work of over 105 talented local artists from across the Greater Austin area. Guests will experience an inspiring collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and other works of art throughout the iconic spaces of Austin City Hall.

The free opening reception will feature keynote remarks, live music, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet participating artists, city leaders, and members of Austin’s arts community. Keynote remarks begin at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Guests are invited to explore the exhibition, connect with local artists, enjoy live music and refreshments, and celebrate Austin’s vibrant visual arts community.

Cast Your Vote for the People’s Choice

Starting with the opening reception, visitors can vote for their favorite artwork in the exhibition. The artwork receiving the most votes will be considered for purchase and addition to the City of Austin’s permanent art collection as the People’s Choice.

Voting will be available from October 2, 2026, through October 1, 2027.

About the People’s Gallery

Held every two years, the People’s Gallery showcases the diverse work of regional artists while highlighting the unique architecture and dynamic public spaces of Austin City Hall. For the 2026 exhibition, approximately 250 local artists applied, with 105 artists selected by a panel of arts professionals, including Georgina Treviño, Nina Q. Ho, and Moyosore Okediji. We also welcome artists from Imagine Art and Artly World, highlighting the impact of art on our community.

The exhibition will remain on display at Austin City Hall through May 26, 2028.

Limited paid parking is available in the City Hall garage. Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike, and use public transportation.
